So I decided to cut the paper in half so I would be able to finish it in time and finished the girl in the corner one night, did the guy another night and then finished the bottom half of the painting in class one day. I did find that painting the guy was a lot easier than painting the girl because I had gotten used to how the gouache works and I think my system of outlining the values was definitely the right way to go. I also really liked working on the newspaper and did the top left corner in it as well. I finished the rest of the painting in one night at my house as I prefer working in larger chunks of time. It was a bit difficult to resolve the large, open space and I hope to have improved my ability to do so in the next piece I do which I am planning on being somewhat similar to this one with the subject of faces and abstract patterns around them. I also liked working with the more subtle mixed media and am planning on continuing with that as well.
