After I had already sketched everything out and erased the size up lines, I began working on the legs and arm. In the copy of the master's drawing I had tried doing light wash layers over the whole painting and building them up but I didn't like how that turned out so I tried working on one section at a time. I first put a thin layer of water on the paper so that way the values would blend together better and it would look more like the master's mark. Even with this method I still did two or three layers of the wash for every section.
